September is Hunger Action Month!

Awareness of an issue is just the first step; when you take ACTION as part of Hunger Action Month you join hundreds of thousands of people across the country who understand that hunger affects everyone in the community.

This September we have a number of ways you can take action:

Food Fight Against Hunger

  • Fighting hunger in your community can be as easy as going out to eat or ordering carryout from your favorite Food Fight restaurants. Order from their Harvest Menus and they will automatically make a donation to Second Harvest Foodbank on your behalf.
  • Other ways you can donate:
    – Add to your dine-in bill by filling out the donation line at the bottom of your receipt.
    – Phone-in a carryout order and ask your order-taker to add a donation to your bill.

Go Orange Day | September 9

  • Go Orange Day is the easiest way to help raise both awareness of hunger, and help us provide nutritious meals to those we serve
  • To participate, just wear something orange, have a picture taken, then post that picture to NBC15’s Facebook page using #Orange4SHFB
  • For every picture posted, campaign sponsors will provide funds we will use to meet the need in our community

Hunger Action Day | September 17

  • September 17 is Feeding America’s national day of action for hunger awareness
  • We are focusing on volunteering during this year’s Hunger Action Day
  • You can take action by either volunteering on September 17, or taking a moment to sign up to volunteer on another day.

Request-A-Thon with 105.5 Triple M | September 23 | 6am-6pm

  • If you’ve ever wanted to run a radio station, September 23 is your chance!
  • That day, when you call 844-8HUNGER (844-848-6437) and make a minimum donation of $25 you can request ANY song (that can be played on the radio)
  • With hundreds of requests coming in, the higher your donation, the higher your song moves up the list
