Students should be hungry to learn, not hungry.

Recognizing that research unequivocally demonstrates that hunger impairs health, learning, behavior and the ability to attend and focus, the mission of the Food For Thought Program is to improve food access and alleviate hunger among Madison public school students and their families. The Food For Thought Program includes Thea’s Table Weekend Family Food Program, In-school pantries, and the Thoreau Elementary Weekend Food Bag Program.

Currently, the program includes in-school food pantries in East High School, Sandburg Elementary, Mendota Elementary, Cherokee Heights Middle  and Hawthorne Elementary schools.
