Second Harvest Receives Bayer Fund Grant to Support Mobile Pantry Program
MADISON, Wisconsin August 1, 2019 – Employees from Bayer-Arlington Research & Development recommended Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to receive a $10,000 grant from Bayer Fund. Funds from the grant will be used for the Columbia County Mobile Pantry Program, which has two distribution sites in Portage (in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul) and Pardeeville (in partnership with St. Mary's of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church).
“Nearly 7,000 people every year rely on these two mobile food pantries to help stretch their limited budget,” said Dan Stein, president and CEO of Second Harvest. “We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant that will have a direct, positive impact on the local community.”
Second Harvest Foodbank previously received a Monsanto Fund site grant in 2018 for the same program.
“The staff here at the Bayer Arlington Research & Development are proud to continue supporting the Second Harvest Mobile Pantry Program with this Monsanto Fund grant. There has been a growing number of families in our community in need of healthy meals. These Mobile Pantries provide this in a convenient way for these families,” said Nick Deckard, Operations Lead.
In 2019, Bayer Fund awarded more than $1.4 million through this program to nonprofit organizations in rural communities to help address essential needs in Food & Nutrition, STEM Education, and Community Development. Nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $7 million through this program over the last five years.
