Volunteering
Volunteering
is a great way to help your community fight hunger.
Essential
to Second Harvest Foodbank’s operations, volunteers
average nearly 5,100 hours of service each month. Their donated
time is equivalent to 29 full-time employees — a considerable
costs savings for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

MOBILE
PANTRY VOLUNTEER
Second
Harvest Foodbank needs volunteers to assist at our Mobile
Pantry sites. We distribute more than 3 million pounds of
food through the Mobile Pantry Program each year, and this
can only be done with the help of dedicated volunteers.
What is a Mobile Pantry: Sponsored by local
nonprofit agencies or churches, mobile pantries are food distributions
set up outside in parking lots or sometimes inside due to
inclement weather. The food is delivered by Second Harvest
and distributed by volunteers (YOU) at each location one time
per month. They’re another way of getting food to people
facing hunger.
Who should volunteer: great for teens, parents
and grandparents to do a community service activity together
Volunteer Duties: help set up, distribute
food, tear down boxes and clean up. Training provided.
Time commitment: 3 hours per time, 1 time
per month
