NEW ORDERING DEADLINES EFFECTIVE MARCH 1

It’s probably hard to believe that nearly 2 years have passed since the order system was implemented. You met the challenge head on and with excellence. As a result, distribution to you, our partners, expanded during this period by 28%, from 5.3 million pounds to 6.8 million.

As expected, this increase has caused some growing pains, and we now face the need to change some of our procedures in order to ensure that your orders are picked accurately and assembled on time. Therefore, ordering deadlines must change so that those agencies that are picking up food are in line with those who receive delivery.
.

Starting March 1, you will need to place your order earlier than before. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this causes you. Please trust that the change was made in order to accommodate the growing needs of all our partner agencies while ensuring that costs don’t increase.

Please use the chart below as your guide starting March 1:

Order Pick-up or Delivery Day

Order Must be Received by:

Monday

Previous Wednesday by 2 p.m.

Tuesday

Previous Thursday by 2 p.m.

Wednesday

Previous Friday by 2 p.m.

Thursday

Previous Monday by 2 p.m.

Friday

Previous Tuesday by 2 p.m.

Although this change goes into effect March 1, it is a good idea to start getting in the habit as soon as possible! Thank you so much for your support and cooperation.

CALL IN ADVANCE DURING EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS

Although our staff promises to do our best to get into the office and warehouse to serve you, we may not be able to do so if conditions are severe. We want to ensure the safety of both our staff and our agencies while causing the least inconvenience to you possible.

Please check with Second Harvest on any day that you think we may not be open and you’re coming to pick-up an order or expecting a delivery.

Call our main number at 608-223-9121 x100 (or PRESS “0”) AFTER 6:30 a.m. on the day in question. Our message on x100 will reflect whether Second Harvest is open or closed.

If you place an order on a day we are closed, we will not be able to process it immediately. We will contact you when the office re-opens to schedule your pick-up or delivery appointment.

Becoming a Partner Agency

If you work with a 501(c)3 agency that provides food to low-income people in your community, you could benefit from partnering with Second Harvest Foodbank. Please click here for more information and an agency application. If you have questions or special needs, contact Mona at 608-223-9121 x108.

There is no membership or annual fee for an agency to affiliate with Second Harvest Foodbank. Agencies pay a Shared Maintenance Fee that averages 4 to 5 cents per pound of food to cover some of the Foodbank’s costs to acquire, warehouse and distribute food. Those fees make up about 7% of the Foodbank’s support and revenue. Second Harvest Foodbank routinely assists agencies with financial resources to help them distribute more food.

  • Second Harvest Foodbank seeks funds to help agencies. When fundraising is successful, agencies receive credits to offset shared maintenance fees.
  • Agencies pay no fees on food Second Harvest Foodbank receives from community food drives, or on produce, baby food, and dairy and bakery products.

  • A purchased food program, subsidized by Second Harvest Foodbank, provides agencies with food items that are in high demand but short supply.
